Do you ever wonder about why certain things are as they are? Why do British people talk about the weather for small talk, Italians cry at opera, North Americans respect the position of the Presidency even if they don’t respect him? These things just are as they are.

Take religious art as an example. Why are there so many versions of Biblical art pieces from the renaissance period? Why do they all follow a tight codex of esoteric representations of Christ in differing forms?
